The Soar Valley Leisure Centre opened on the 31st July 2004 after many years effort and much hard work by the Mountsorrel-Rothley Swimming Pool Association, Mountsorrel Parish Council, the memorial Hall Committee, Charnwood Borough Council, Sport England and local developers.  Construction began in May 2003 on the Leisure Centre at Mountsorrel and has been finished within its £6m budget.
The Centre is the Council's largest project for 30 years and it greatly improves the sporting facilities in the southern part of the Borough, which previously has been rather neglected. Major new housing development has taken place in the Soar Valley villages in the last twenty years. The Soar Valley Leisure Centre provides leisure facilities close to where people live and to meet the needs of the existing and growing populations of Barrow, Mountsorrel, Quorn, Rothley and Sileby.
The Centre was opened on Saturday 13 November 2004 as part of the British Legion Annual Service of Remembrance. The Memorial Playing Fields and Memorial Hall Charities, which contributed to the funding, were formed following the First and Second World Wars respectively in memory of the gallant men of Mountsorrel who lost their lives and were created to provide for the recreational and community needs of future generations.

The Centre is run by SERCO, the operators of the Browns Lane Centre in Loughborough, on behalf of the Charnwood Borough Council. Facilities include:

If you plan to be a regular user there are a range of options for Annual Membership from £170 for 60+, students and those on benefits to £380 for full membership. Alternatively, you can pay by monthly direct debit ranging from £15.50 to £34.50.
